Time Inc.’s LIFE VR and Travel + Leisure Premiere “World’s Best City: San Miguel de Allende,” a Virtual Reality and 360-Degree Travel Guide
Time Inc.’s (NYSE:TIME) LIFE VR and Travel ± Leisure are debuting “World’s Best City: San Miguel de Allende,” an all-new virtual reality production celebrating the T+L 2017 World’s Best City. The experience—a co-production with virtual reality content and technology company Mesmerise—is being released in conjunction with the launch of the 22nd annual T+L World’s Best Awards. The production is the first collaboration between Time Inc. and Mesmerise as part of a new deal that will see the two companies team up to create a series of immersive experiences across Time Inc. brands in the coming months.
The engaging new project from LIFE VR and Travel + Leisure presents a virtual tour of the 2017 World’s Best City, San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, in virtual reality and a 360-degree video travel guide. Available now on the LIFE VR app, Samsung VR and on the Travel + Leisure Facebook page and site, users can glide through the city’s scenic and history-laden community on a narrated tour with views of prominent local parks, churches and universities. This is the first VR production based on the acclaimed T+L World’s Best Awards and is the second immersive city tour from the brand, following the launch of a 360-degree city tour on LIFE VR of Óbidos, Portugal, the T+L 2016 Destination of the Year.

As part of the new collaboration, Time Inc.’s LIFE VR and Mesmerise will create and produce virtual reality content and 360-degree video, working with editorial teams across the storied Time Inc. brands. Mesmerise will offer its production services and solutions to Time Inc.—including content creation and platform development—allowing LIFE VR to increase the amount of content coming from its brands while maintaining editorial control. Mesmerise will also provide Time Inc. with advanced virtual reality analytics based on its proprietary software. The new agreement between Time Inc. and Mesmerise kicks off with today’s launch and will include at least seven more exclusive experiences slated to premiere in coming months on LIFE VR and across Time Inc. sites.

With “World’s Best City: San Miguel de Allende,” LIFE VR continues to release innovative and exciting immersive content, which has previously included programming like Capturing Everest, the first-ever bottom-to-top climb of Mount Everest in virtual reality; Buzz Aldrin: Cycling Pathways to Mars, which features a VR hologram of the iconic astronaut; and Remembering Pearl Harbor, a fully interactive historical re-creation told through the eyes of survivor Lt. Jim Downing.
